Are You Tired of Looking Tired?
3 Minute Read:
Let’s face it; we are all exhausted. COVID-19 has been around for over a year now, and it has taken a toll on every one of us. Our normal daily schedules were shifted almost overnight, and many of us were forced to work and attend school remotely. Understandably, you would be tired right about now.
But just because you are tired doesn’t mean that you have to look like it.
The truth is, a lot of people struggle with puffy eyes or undereye bags that give a worn-out look.
Looking tired is all about the eyes. Facial aging, especially around the eyes, can leave extra, unwanted skin that looks saggy, puffy, and tired. This can affect how you feel and how people respond to you.
Fortunately, blepharoplasty or eyelid lift surgery can remove excess eyelid skin and fat to give a more refreshed and rested appearance. You get to rejuvenate your eyes and improve your visual field, significantly changing the way you look.
The details of the procedure will depend on whether you will need upper blepharoplasty, lower blepharoplasty, or both.
Do I Need Upper, Lower, or Both?
Upper eyelid surgery removes excess skin and fat from the upper eyelid for a more youthful and alert eyelid shape. If you have droopy, puffy, or heavy upper eyelids or have trouble seeing because your eyelids are obstructing your vision, then you may be a good candidate for the procedure.
Dr. Kim will make an incision in the natural crease of your upper eyelid to remove the excess skin and tighten the sagging muscles or fat pockets to create a smooth, natural-looking appearance.
Lower eyelid surgery effectively treats loose skin, excess fat, and puffiness in the lower eye area. As we age, the thin wall of the eyelids can weaken, and fat can accumulate on the lower eyelids, making you appear tired and worn-out.
During the procedure, an incision is made along the lower lash line or the inner lower lid to remove excess skin and reposition/remove fat as needed. Skin cannot be removed through the transconjunctival (inner eyelid) approach.
In some instances, a brow lift may need to be combined with the blepharoplasties of the upper and lower eyelids to enhance your upper facial appearance.
Do I Need Asian Blepharoplasty?
If you are of Asian descent and are looking to remove puffiness around the eyelid while creating a “double-eyelid” crease, Asian blepharoplasty is ideal.
Asian eyelid surgery is a variation of traditional blepharoplasty that tailors all techniques to the specific needs of Asian patients. This allows for highly personalized improvement without “Westernizing” your unique facial features.
